Laura and Tom Terveer purchased the
Gutheil Homestead in February 2004. Having grown up in the area, Laura and her
4 sisters remember driving by the white star (
"with the red barn on it"
) and admiring the beauty of this farm. After years of suburban living, the
farm continued to have great appeal, as the Terveers drove by on a regular
basis to see family nearby. When they discovered that the property was for sale
in the fall of 2003, they visited the farm and were even more taken in by
seeing it up close. The barns and grounds had been painstakingly renovated by
Don and Ann Gutheil Reynolds for use as an event site. The farmhouse and Red
Barn held great charm and history. Four generations of Gutheils (since 1890)
had called this farm home. The Terveers feel honored to be entrusted with the
continuation of this legacy.
